Rainbow Mists Weyr
16 November 2009 @ 10:23 pm
Welcome to the middle of November! I'm recovering from getting another year older. Before long my poor old back will give out, but at least my arms should still work!

~IC~
Today: 10.01.19 (yes, still. Gathers = long)

T'wyn, a Black-Bronze Riding rogue caused a large disturbance at the WFVW reopening Gather. The poor Weyrfolks can't seem to catch a break. Before too much damage was done a strong willed Holder (actually Bador undercover) shot T'wyn in the shoulder with an arrow, causing him to flee. Stall owners managed to quickly put one the one small fire that had started. Orikoesh helped lessen the other injuries caused, all fairly minor. Yet it is not the damaged caused that measured the seriousness of the event: for a Rider to do what T'wyn dared means there are probably more who had considered it. Unrest and disloyalty seems to be the only universal theme between the enemies of Rainbow Mists. A disorganized, attack-and-flee force is frightening as a full fledged army. They have scattered motives, or perhaps none at all. It seems now that the title DragonRider isn't one that grants security.

Weyr officials are trying to find each other again after dispersing from considering the T'mas vs. family event. The Gather and ceremony should proceed as planned.

~OoC~
With Bador as Dark Mists Weyr's usurping leader I promised you all that rules would get a lot harsher. Here's the first of them.

Effective immediately all Dark Mists Weyr characters, including DMW-type characters who do not reside at DMW, are now subject to death within reason of their actions as decided by Dance, with major deaths discussed and passed by me, without consent of the character's role player. DMW characters originally came with inherent risk. This new standard only increases that risk appropriately considering DMW's new leadership. ((One may want to stock up on Bador's favorite candy bar to stay on his good side.))

Difficulty Level: Insanely Hard
Question: What is Bador's favorite candy bar?
Prize: Your Life, Soul not included

Answer to last time's trivia: Sunset

Happy mid-October folks! Yes, it's been a while. But I'm back in the swing of school and over my colds! (yay!)

~IC~
Today: 10.01.19
The Waterfall Valley Weyr reopening Gather has started! Traders and local merchants are setting up their stalls. Sales will go on most of the day and usually close around evening. Unfortunately, Iriala was not able to make it to this Gather, but will be at the Weyr selling fire lizard eggs next sevenday.

The ceremony will start in the middle of the afternoon.

A fight has broken out! T'mas and his cousin brawl over hurled insults and threatened fire lizards. Roderick, T'mas's cousin, has been seriously wounded. T'shom and Sojouresh are attending to him with the help of a couple healers, but can they heal his punctured lung? Weyrwoman Kaya arrived and is demanding answers but receiving conflicting stories. She is consulting with Weyrling Master T'ka and Candidate Master K'den about the situation. What will T'mas's fate be?

Aurorath's Hatching approximated to be on 10.02.05. Prepare yourselves Candidates! There are eight eggs, all healthy.

The skies have been quiet as of late. Perhaps some dragonesses will be rising soon...

---Opening Post for WFVW Gather---
How many people there are already! Kaya thought as she looked down into the restored valley. It was still all too obvious where the volcano had destroyed the previous landscape, yet the miners had done their very best to tidy up the landscape. Still, it would take many more Turns for the jungle to grow back to its normal state.

But truly, that was not the point. This was a day of grand celebration! On these very grounds she had befriended Senior Weyrwoman Sakura, raised Kayleth, and finally become Weyrwoman herself! Here there were, those sacred grounds of irreplaceable importance. Here were the grounds that would come to hold the same grand meaning for others yet to come.

And there, flying through the air not far ahead, was Silver Aurorath. Kaya felt her heart ache in unison with Kayleth's. The Silver pair - how could they imagine Weyr life without them? Kaya started to tear up, though she knew this would still be a happy day. They were not gone forever, merely transferring to Waterfall Valley. Indeed it was a grand occasion for the SilverRider and her dragoness. It would be those two who ruled as Senior pair. Another queenly duo coming back to a place they first called home.

It was with that last thought that Kayleth dove closer to the ground, scanning out a good spot to land. She picked just outside the starting festivities, even though the crowd would have readily made way for her. The two didn't want to be that much of a bother. Any trader in the area had caught wind of the event and was kept very busy setting up their stall of goods for the gather goers. Kaya smiled, seeing all this. It was a peaceful time again, for the moment, and it was to be savored. She had found that, unfortunately, in her lifetime things had become rather unpeaceful.

Yet her family was going to be there that day, and that was good enough. Her Weyr family, her blood family, they were all important to her, and all there. Three fire lizards circled in the sky far above her head, and a little girl of five and some faction Turns stood at her side. Tyra always loved to tell people just exactly how old she was. Five and a quarter, five and a half...and so on. It was very amusing to Kaya. T'ren would no doubt show up within the hour, and perhaps they'd even bring Koryn for a moment when the harpers started singing. He loved that. But for the now the babe was safe at home, sleeping under the supervision of a dedicated weyrfolk.

And Kaya, for the first time in a long, long while, was starting to relax. Today was going to be a good day, and maybe, even a great day.

Question: What color is T'mas's fire lizard Nasha?

The Daily LifeWing issue #2 is in the works. We've got an outline and a solid article. The rest is in development. Expect it out in early September. Vhenth will be featured as the dragon of the month.

Upcoming events include: WFVW's reopening picnic, Aurorath's Hatching, and Iriala the flitt egg trader's arrival, in that order. However, you never know when a plot will sneak in. -wink- Let's just say that a lot of the upcoming problems deal with even more chaos. Bwuaha!

Since we have a Hatching coming up we need more Candidates. Whether you make them, or get your friends to join to make them, I'd like to see enough for Aurorath's small Clutch. Go guys go! In fact, I'll reward a King fire lizard egg to whomever has the most referrals at the end of September.

10.01.15 - The surviving population of Stormy Plains Hold is living anywhere it can find in Rainbow Mists Weyr. Things are extremely crowded and getting seconds in the Kitchens is a rarer sight. In the middle of summer wild fruit is aplenty, so many are out picking their own to get food without the long line.

~Recent & Upcoming Events~
Iriala the flitt egg trader should be coming into the area next month

10.01.12 -- A flood has overtaken Stormy Plains BeastHold! Holders were alerted when a young boy alerted them that his friend had drown in the gushing river. A thunderstorm rages overhead. Dragons and Riders from Rainbow Mists Weyr were the first to arrive. They were informed of the storm by Cymbri's Pink fire lizard Serenade. The Weyr Harper's assistant had been visiting the Hold when the storm first started. Teams from Ice Stone and Sky Mountain arrived later to assist in rescueing Holders from the rooftops. Greens and smaller are able to land on the sturdier roofs and take people one or two at a time. Later, the idea that larger dragons could come in using tarps tied between the legs of a team of four arrived. Just recently, a sandbar-like area, only about a foot deep in water, was discovered. Dragons not in a tarp-team can have Holders delivered to them here for transfer from small dragons to large ones. The area is about big enough to fit one very large dragon and a pair of small ones. Keep working everyone! SAVE THE HOLD!

Refugees are delivered to the Weyr Bowl where they are attended to by healers, harpers and LifeWings.

An update. Finally. wh00t! ^^ Thanks for all the activity and great responce to the plot, guys! =D
I'd also like to thank you all for the smoothe transition during the time skip.

There is a direct link to our art page now, available to your right! ----->

When Iriala gets here, Birdy can claim her Queen flitt egg from the Birthday Event. Congrats! ^^

Also, being the silly ol' sentamental, nostalgic person I am, I was looking through some old records I have, and pages of old members. Look what I found:

Original page here, Tarai's photobucket

Now you might be wondering: "Kaya...what's this?"
Well I'd be happy to tell you. This was an idea of an old member named Tarai. It was her submission for a new pet-like creature for our role play. It's a slimy little eel-like thing, kind of like a fire lizard but...less cute. Well, I guess cute is in the eye of the beholder. Anywho, this almost made it into the role play to be honest. Imagine how different things might be if they had. (Before anyone asks, I'm not adding this in. This is for nostalgic purposes only.) What I do remember is Kaya laying back onto a couple of these things' "eggs" on her pillow. -shiver- In the role play, when the idea was discarded, the eggs simply became infertile/duds and were discarded without further investigation. Nothing like it has been seen in the role play again. This nostalgic moment was brought to you by: Photobucket. Thanks Photobucket for hosting images for years without question!

WAFFLE!
Well, actually this isn't all about waffles. That was just my breakfast at Coco's (right by the California-Mexico boarder).  I highly recommend their Belgian waffles.

So, the way to Mexico was just a LONG LONG LONG LOOOOONG bus ride. Coach bus, but....a LOOOOOONG ride.

Then we crossed the boarder with the help of the follow-me! truck from Amor Ministries. This was us starting to set up camp:

We rent 14 passenger vans for the week. This is how we get into Mexico and how we get to our work sites to build the house. =)
I rode in the one on the far left. The "VH - Van Halen Van". The one in the middle is "Star-Bucks" and the one on the end you can't really see is "BOB LOB LAW" (which sounds like blah blah blah if you ever try to say it out loud). The leaders' van was the "Face Book" van (a smilie face and then a book). All in bright orange duct tape. =D Wheeee!

Of course the third picture I take in Mexico is of a kitty. In fact, her name is Kitty! ^-^
She lived around the neighborhood and everyone liked her, but she was really Maria's cat. Maria fed her and often put her in the house so she would stay away from the dangers of the work site (wet concrete, falling dropped nails, feet, stucco, etc.).

This was the scenery looking out from my work site. The family we had been assigned to build a house for had been waiting two years for the house. They are a family of two: Maria, the mother, and her son (17) Yair (pronounced: Yah-ear). We never met Yair though, as he was away in another state of Mexico visiting with Maria's parents.
I was very happy to understand all these things that Maria told me. Our translator for the trip had canceled last minute (she just couldn't come). So I was the only one on my work site who could speak enough Spanish to hold conversations with Maria and the neighbors. Another boy spoke some Spanish, and could ask them for things (nails, wires, their names, etc.) but he couldn't converse with them. I was so nervous at first that I wouldn't be able to understand them well enough, but it all worked out and I had a really great time being the site translator!

The first work day is dedicated entirely to mixing concrete and forming the slab upon which the house will stand. Here are some pictures from that day:

Unmixed concrete (a mixture of sand, rocks and cement, all shoveled and carried by hand by us).

Mix Mix Mix!

Here we screen the top of the concrete slab to make it all smooth and even! Then others come back over it will small, handheld flat trowels. They make it even more smooth!

Unfortunately, overnight some of the stray dogs walked on the concrete. Perma-pawprints. eh =/

Coming back to camp after the first hard day of work, we were greeted once again by my favorite sign in camp.

Day two was a lot lot LOT of wall building. And...REbuilding...and REbuilding. If I haven't mentioned it already, we do all the hammering, sawing, shoveling, and ALL the work by hand! No power tools. So, I tell ya, every time we had done anything to a wall we were told it wasn't quite right by the site foreman. And then the wall was kicked apart back a step or two. GAH. It took all of that day to get the walls built. We didn't even get them up. Moral was down, as all the other sites (our church build three houses) had their walls up.

But spirits lifted with the walls on day three.

.

And after the walls and roof frame were up, some worked to get the roof panels up.

The next step, which we worked on for the rest of the day, was getting the walls wired, tar papered, and wired again with chicken wire  to prep for the stucco coating that would be put on the next day.

Now, by this point, you might be wondering about a bathroom break. So here, let me show you how to get to the bathrooms!

Yes, you do have to climb straight up that last part of "wall". And yes, many of the 'stairs' in Mexico are made of tires. Many many of them are.
Or, if you don't feel like climbing up to get to a toilet fixture (yes, there was a toilet up there. The only one I saw all trip. At camps we had perma-portapotties) then you can use this one:

(It's just a whole in a board. Fun, right? ((This was my least favorite bathroom))) And to let you in on something else: you may think it's hard enough to use a "bathroom" like one of these. Think about trying to go in dirty, hot, stick-to-you work clothes.

But for all the downs, there are definately some really big ups.

d'awwwwwwwwwwwww

At last we got all the wiring done.

((Faces greyed out because I felt direct face photos should be. The others aren't because the people are further away, or less head-on towards the camera. This was a good photo to show the chicken wire though, so I used it.))

Day four - the last day - was another set-back filled day. Turns out, despite many, many measurings of the openings for the door and windows - NONE OF THEM FIT. We spent the entire first half of the work day (morning - lunch) hacking off boards and resizing other boards so the windows and door would fit. UHG.

FINALLY, we had windows:

(The house had two total windows, and one door with a lock and key). Unfortunately, it took a crew of three most of the rest of the work day to get the door installed.

Meanwhile, all the rest of us were working on stuccoing the house.

I wasn't actually getting my gloves covered in the goopy sand and cement mix, but rather shoveling and sifting all the sand for the stucco. Tada!

(Almost done!)

After we finished the stucco was when Maria arrived home from work. We then dedicated the house to her, which is a ceremony of sorts. We read a blessing, a select few Bible verses, pray, and basically wish the family well in their new house. The entire thing is done in Spanish and English. Then, in addition to the house, our wonderful church ladies sew quilts every year for the family. Usually there are a few other gifts, including a broom and some toys for kids. Since this house had only a 17-year-old, the toys went to the neighbor children who had helped us stucco the house.

Maria is on the far right, next to Maria is Rosa, the neighbor and Mom of the two children standing on her left. Rosa has two other children, both younger boys, not pictured here. The kitty-cat, Kitty was also present for the dedication. She is not pictured here. So here's a pic of her:

This was the last time I saw Maria. The two little boys here are Rosa's other children. I miss them all very much.

On the drive back we still had a lot of gift soccer balls left over, as there hadn't been many neighborhood children. So we passed them out to random children walking by as we drove.

(Scenery)

(This one we actually walked the ball up to their house. The other kids in my van had been watching these kids as we drove by all week. They really wanted them to have a ball.)

(Scenery)

This was the last picture I took in Mexico. Right at the boarder crossing. It took us about 45 minutes to get across this year.

After we got back in the 'States we were given a day at La Jolla Beach before we had to head back home the next day on another REEEEEALLY LOOOONG bus ride. It was overcast all day. I don't have any pictures this year of the beach, but I did see a girl drawing on the sidewalk with carcoal. Everyone else just stared, but I got down to her level and asked her what her name was. You'll never believe the answer I got: Tyra! Her name was Tyra. That kinda spooked me at first. heh.

This is her. She had finished another drawing already, with a lot of gradient black-sidewalk grey and shading. It's why everyone was staring.

So the next day we were supposed to go home. This is when I started to feel sick (make sure they cook your eggs all the way in La Jolla unless you like throwing up!) As I had heard talk of the night before, something was wrong with our bus. It was broken. We were stuck. The adults had spent all last night and the morning getting rides home for us. We had one bus, at last, that was coming from a town about half way to our home. But the downside was that the bus only had one driver. He could legally only drive so long, and that meant taking us half way home- back to the city he came from. We had breakfast at IHOP and then we waited for him here in La Jolla:

By the time he arrived with the bus the adults had gotten ahold of another company to drive to the halfway point and take us home. Which was good news, but by that time I was still fighting back the part of me that wanted to throw up. We were on a bus, with all my friends. I didn't want to lose my cookies in front of them. (I did end up tossing cookies, in the bathroom on the bus. After that I felt a little better, then a lot worse, and then I started the climb back to normalcy. It wasn't until the halfway point to switch buses that I felt like eating, and even then I went to a near by market and got some bananas and yogurt.)

It was 4:15 AM when we finally got home. Everyone was exhausted and the crowd around the bus disappeared the fastest I've seen it do so in three years of going on this trip. I was glad to be home too. I got well, talked to my parents, and I'm still enjoying the photos I took on the trip. I hope you've enjoyed them too. =) If you're ever considering going on a missions trip: GO. They're worth it.

Answers:
1. Silver Fire Lizard Grace's Clutch was saved from tunnelsnakes

2. Candidates Nickta and Kela found a dragon egg buried in the sand (It was Riakalith's)

3. Crimson Fellicanth of Ice Stone Weyr is important because he has always been a terrible problem. He and his Rider never truly got along. Worse still, Fellicanth had hated his brother Brown Moronath from birth, and had tried to kill him several times, angering Moronath's Rider, K'reln. K'reln wanted to kill A'candar (Fellicanth's Rider) but he could not get his conscious to accept such a deed, as he felt A'candar was innocent. Several months before graduation, Fellicanth attacked Moronath all out, but was defeated and driven away by his father, Jeraloth. However, on Graduation Day, Fellicanth returned and terrorized the Weyr, killing bystanders in his attempt to kill Moronath. K'reln was about to strike the final blow against A'candar when Fellicanth grabbed him away, injuring A'candar, and fled. They have not been seen since.
(Shorter versions that included key points from this story were accepted)

4. DeathWings were first called DarkWings, but as more was discovered about them, the name DeathWing was adopted and has stayed since.

5. K'yne, rider of Brown Lorifelth. He Impressed at 10 Turns old, the youngest Impression to date

6. It was unusual for Nikyta (Ice Sheyleth's future Rider) to stand as a Candidate because she was pregnant

7. I founded Waterfall Valley Weyr with my good friends Lanna and Shoki. (Kaya, the character, founded Rainbow Mists - which was not the question).

That's right! It's April 23rd! RMW's fourth birthday! ^-^
It's a little late, but I got to go out to dinner (to celebrate? heh. ^^).

So, knowing how people are busy on different days, I'm declaring Birthday Week! As a special feature of Birthday Week, and member mark earning activities will earn you double points!

Any additional celebratory ideas are welcome.

Also, I would appreciate it if someone could write up an advertisement for RMW. 20 marks to anyone who writes at least a paragraph ad! (10 for anything shorter, or buttons. 20 for banners). Let's see about getting our great group out there to be seen by all! =)

Note 2
- I'm going to be out of town this weekend. We're visiting my uncle, and getting the car we bought from him for me. Whee-hee! I get a car. ^-^ (yay) So, because of this, I'm not sure how much internet access I will have. Just a heads up.

Welcome to April, everyone. Looks like things are going to start picking up again. So...Some News!

IC-
DMW is about three days ahead of RMW. R'vin returned, enraged about Renika. R'lor's Kaurth confronts them. Bador is around, but where? Will his coup succeed?

At RMW Illyrmiath is on the Sands with her Clutch! Vith and V'ren brought her a meal in gratitude, as Zara (Illyrmiath's Rider) helped save Vith's life.

Ryka and K'den saved single flitt egg from a flock of wherries. It hatched out a Blue, which Ryka Impressed and named Hru, after the sound that whers can make.

OoC-

Zara's back in town! It's great to see her RPing again. =D

If anyone was helping me with updating NPC location bios, please message me!

Please vote in the new poll!

Tomorrow I'll be starting Grace's Hatching! It will be three days later at RMW, to catch up with DMW's time line. The Exploration of Waving Plains will end. El's characters, Hyron and Alera, will be brought back to RMW and treated. And Dance has got a surprise, but you all have to wait for this one. Seems like the best stuff you always have to wait the longest for. But it will come!

Wow. How'd we get through two weeks of February with no news? Sorry about that guys.

Anyhow, just wanted to let you know what I've been up to behind the not-so-invisible-scenes.
  • Updated Jungle and Rainbow bios
  • Corrected spelling errors on the Colors page (1st Webbie)
  • Deleted "Holds and Halls" page on 1st Webbie, as all that information has been improved and added to the 2nd Webbie
Things left to do:
  • Talk to El about resizing the Black on the size chart and adding in Amber
  • Add bios for Amber and Ocean to the colors page
  • Make Ziskara dragons in Amber
  • Hatch Iriala's eggs (after a 2 sevenday timeskip)
  • Get Dance back here to finish the investigation team RP at Waving Plains Hold
  • Time skip ahead 6 months (all dragonets from Kayleth's 4th Hatching will then be Riders)
  • List range of sizes for each color of dragon in feet
  • *I'd like to do this* Assign new dragonets a "length at full size" at birth, just as another fun factoid to know about your character.

Dance-
"I`m not drawing this out, I`m trying to see if a single one of you is smart enough to figure it out. I`m sadly beginning to have doubts about that." he slowly paced over to Renika, licking his lips once, and gazed around at the crowd. He could explain, he should explain, infact he probably would explain.

"Yes, every single day does count. Thats why I have to say you`ve been wasting time, my dear. I quickly see your just a figurehead attempting to unite a league of brats. The intelligence and drive is apparently lacking around here..." his voice trailed off as he neared towards Renika. His eyes narrowed as he was now standing right across from her. He glanced about and then took another step forward, right infront of her, to the point of invading personal space. "Such a shame... you are indeed so beautiful." one hand reached up and brushed the feathered mask lightly, and he gazed into her eyes. Before anyone could react, he reached into his pocket, and grabbed a long-knife. Quickly he brought this weapon towards her chest, and pierced her heart. "Truly I`m sorry about this." Bador once again stated, backing away, red knife now in his hand. "It really is time for a change though."

As Bador backed away slowly from Renika, the DeathWing moved forwards, beak clacking. It spread its wing out far, its mouth hanging slightly open, ready to defend. Apparently during the midst of conversation, no one had noticed more DeathWings start to arrive, and they landed towards the side of the King, all also spreading their wings and beaks. Their now totaled thirteen in all. One King, Four Princes, and eight Elite Soldiers. A true fighting Wing of DeathWings, often coined as a DarkWing, a very, very formidable force. Bador smiled lightly, their arrival had been noticed but only too late. He backed until he was standing just infront of the King, watching the situation. Knowing his life was in a bit of danger, he reached and knocked an arrow to his bow, ready, waiting, and smiling.

LX-
R`lor felt the pain from Kaurth as the dragon roared in anger. Without much thought, Kaurth flew to Renika`s weyr and R`lor was on the big Brown`s back and now heading out to the ledge. The man saw the blood and seemed to roar with his dragon. No! He did not care if anyone knew right now. Renika was his love! The only woman who ever caught his interest. The one who gave him a reason to live. As soon as Kaurth was near, not even on the ground, R`lor jumped off the dragon back and ran to Renika`s side. Not in time to catch her from her fall, but he hoped in time to keep her alive so he could take her to the Healers. "Renika!" the man shouted, running to the woman`s side, and putting his arms around her. "Renika! Stay with me. I don`t want to lose you." ~Kaurth, try to stay in contact with Valorith! We cannot lose our blessed Queen!~ the man shouted at the Brown, who was already in the sky search for the Abyss Queen he loved too.

R`lor already disliked this man now. Much more than T`wyn did. He wanted to kill him for doing such a thing to the one he loved. The man looked up and glared at Bador, not amused whatsoever. -Between- might as well turn into a desert heat because of R`lor`s anger. But, R`lor turned back to Renika. He held the woman, then he pushed back the mask so she could breath. "Renika, please stay with me. I will stand by your side forever, you know that. I love you. I won`t deny that. I told you I would fight for you. I feel like I failed, but if you stay alive, I won`t fail. I will avenge you and while I do, I will be there. Please! Don`t go!" the man shouted, growling at anyone who came close to him and Renika.

Kaya-
There was something wrong that stirred through the air; a piece of the world gone amiss, a part of time dragging itself out. A hand was brushing lightly over her feathered mask but Renika only stared. Such a shame... but what was? The future was a shame. So many things left to do...

Beautiful.
That was Renika’s world. Pristine, polished, well kept and crisp. Beautiful were the little red drops of blood that fell towards the ground. Beautiful was a beginning and beautiful was an end; a time that seemed closer now than ever. Yet Renika couldn’t find the will to be upset. Pain flashed brighter than passion, heat melted into to cold. The world spun, the world blurred, but at least the world was still there to see.

And then she fell. Falling...flying through an endless space of time; there was no other way to explain how terrible and wonderful it felt. Terror and wonder...was that not beauty in its truest sense? Beauty like her beloved Valorith...her only beloved, the one that would stay with her forever.

~Forever, through all ends and all beginnings,~ Renika felt the words float through her mind.

An explosion! Her head hit the ground, throbbing, turning, hurting... Thoughts were gone, there was nothingness, yet the pain still came. The world still was.

Valorith was screaming at the DeathWings, not rearing up or hissing at them, for such things took time she did not have. They were pointless...hisses hurt no DeathWing. But claws and teeth did. She felt herself fading - pain mattered not; only to kill as many as possible, to hurt, to shred, to maim. They would be nothing with her.

-...love...- Renika thought back faintly to her dragoness, feeling her head fly back skywards. She did not yet know someone was holding her, but she still smiled. Her green eyes looked glassy and tired; her brown hair fell limply below her though it still glinted faintly. A trail of blood trickled down the side of her pale face, a mere stream to the vast river flowing onto her dress. But despite the slowly fading world, Renika became suddenly aware of R’lor. Perhaps it was Valorith letting her see him...

And yes, there he was. Right there for her, worried like always. Such a delightfully silly BrownRider. There was nothing to worry about. Everything was just fine. I’ve never felt better, Renika vaguely thought to herself. Nonetheless it was so sweet of him to be worried. She ought to thank him...but words were such cumbersome things. How she would have liked to hold him, and just have him know that everything was okay. Everything had never been better. The world was about to start over again: pristine, white, beautiful. And she would be there, in that beautiful world. Waiting...for she no longer wanted to stay in this tarnished land. Not when there was something better waiting.

Something better

Please! Don’t go!
"...then come with me," Renika told him, still smiling, still waiting, still beautiful.
The new world was white, and beauty followed it away.
